Creating Interesting Candy Wrappers in Illustrator


1 Do you want to make some good candy wrappers for covering the candies? Well then, how about making them using Illustrator?


Measure the circumference of the candy. Add 1/2". Measure the height and subtract 1/4".
Open Illustrator.

2 Use the measurements, 3" x 1". Press Control+R to open the Ruler. In the upper left corner of the ruler you'll see a vertical and horizontal dotted line crossing one another. Press the left mouse key and pull that down onto the corner of the print area. This will set the ruler for exact measurement. Click on the Rectangle Tool and create a rectangle.

3 First decide on the colour you would like the background for the blank canvas.

4 Choose a photograph or a clipart. Placement of the clipart is important as you will want it to show from the front. You can readjust its placement once you have the text cantered on it.




5 Add some text to identify the piece. If the text dialog box is not open, press Control+T to open. You'll see two tabs, Character and Paragraph. Click on Paragraph. Choose the Align Center box.



6 Choose the Character tab. Type in the text and then change the font.

7 Choose the Text tool and highlight cherrys.

8 Change the font. Before you deselect the text, choose the colour.





9 To change the rest of the text, choose it and find a font that looks fun. You can leave it black so that it stands out more.

10 Choose the clipart and press the Alt key. Drag it to duplicate. Select the Rotation tool and press the Shift key and rotate 180 degrees. Using the Selection tool, move the duplicated clipart to the right. Press Control+A to select all and then press the Shift key and deselect the rectangle. Using the arrow keys, adjust the placement of the text and clipart.

11 To add some design, choose the Line Segment tool. Pick ted green.
Press Control+A to select all. Press Control+G to group. Press Control and Alt (with the Selection tool highlighted) and drag the label down. Now press Control+D to continue duplicating. Once you've hit the bottom of the page, stop. Press Control+A to choose all the labels. Then, press Shift+Alt and drag right. Now press Control+D to duplicate more columns. You are now ready to print. If you made a mistake, press Control+Z as many times to undo the error.

 


 


12 To finish the wrapper, make sure to get a narrow double sided tape, and apply to the ends with one side overlapping the other.
